Full steam ahead...
Let the train take the strain in Setesdal and make waves in Lysefjord during Saga Sapphire’s new Scandinavian Seascape cruise
- Take a boat from Lysefjord to sail beneath Pulpit Rock
- Explore Gothenburg’s canals on ‘Padden’ boat
- Ride on a tractor-pulled trolley along the beach in Skagen
Saga Sapphire’s new Scandinavian Seascapes cruise to Norway, Sweden and Denmark offers passengers an opportunity to explore fjords, islets and canals on smaller chartered boat excursions.
From Stavanger, in south-west Norway, guests can board a hired boat to sail in the blue waters of Lysefjord and pass below the 1,982ft Pulpit Rock before stepping ashore at Helleren Beach for coffee and waffles.
On arrival in Kristiansand you could choose to step back in time by boarding a vintage train, powered by a steam engine that is over 100 years old and travel along the picturesque Setesdal railway. A scenic journey then unfolds as you travel along the narrow-gauge railway passing over bridges and dams, through tunnels and avalanche shelters, to arrive at Røyknes.
Cosmopolitan Gothenburg is one of Sweden’s trendiest cities and visitors can soak up the Scandi atmosphere by strolling along the waterfront or join an excursion to Kungsportsplatsen to embark one of the flat-bottomed boats known as ‘Paddan’ for a cruise around the city’s canals.
Another adventure begins in the charming Danish fishing town of Skagen, where guests take a short drive to Grenen for a tractor-pulled trolley ride along the beach where the North Sea and the Baltic Sea converge.
