Go glamping under the stars with Saga on new Northern Lights’ cruise
• Enjoy maiden call to fishing town of Kålvag
• Take free Northern Lights’ tour worth £150
• Receive a complimentary Arctic jacket
Saga passengers can watch the Northern Lights from the comfort of an insulated luxury Sami tent, complete with floor-to-roof window to maximise the view, during Saga Pearl II’s Bright Lights in Norway cruise.
Glamping is just one of a host of active winter experiences during the 15-night cruise and a Northern Lights’ excursion worth £150 is also offered to give guests an extra chance to see the dazzling display in the winter wilderness.
Although seeing the Northern Lights can never be guaranteed, Alta enjoys clear, dark night skies which can become an arena for the Aurora Borealis, also referred to as 'the temperamental lady' by Laplanders.
For those that have chosen to book the glamping excursion, each private tent has a double bed, electricity and a wood-burning stove to provide a cosy night’s stay under the stars within the Arctic Circle.
After transferring to the Dolmen Husky Lodge, guests enjoy a husky sled ride followed by dinner and a dip in the Jacuzzi or sauna before settling into their tent during the ship’s overnight call in Alta, Norway.
At 70 degrees North, Alta sees heavy snowfalls and sub-zero temperatures so each guest receives a complimentary Arctic jacket.
Further highlights on this cruise include a maiden call to the bustling fishing town of Kålvag on the island of Froya and a boat safari to photograph white-tailed eagles.
Saga Pearl II also calls into the waterside city of Bergen which is surrounded by mountains and sparkling fjords; Åndalsnes – a gateway to the rugged wilderness of the Romsdalfjord, and Tromsø, which lies 200 miles inside the Arctic Circle.
