It’s blood, sweat and gears for Saga team cycling 180-mile for charity

A team of Saga’s Senior Group Executives are gearing up for a 180-mile cycling round trip from Folkestone to Bruges to launch Saga’s “Silver September Month of Fundraising” for Saga’s national Charity Partner, The Silver Line.

Gary Duggan, Chief Executive Officer at Saga Services and his team of ten are currently preparing to cycle across the continent on 1st and 2nd September with the aim of completing the sponsored cycle ride in just 48 hours.

Setting off from Dover, the two-day challenge will see Duggan and his team pedal through France to Bruges, with the team aiming to raise £3k for charity The Silver Line. 

Saga’s official charity partner - The Silver Line, receive around 10,500 calls every week from lonely and isolated older people; with 53% of callers saying they have literally no-one else to speak to. Since its launch in November 2013, the charity has received over 2 million calls.

Gary Duggan, Chief Executive Officer at Saga Services said: “Although at times I’m sure the journey will be considerably challenging, we are all looking forward to completing the challenge and helping to raise money for a very worthwhile charity. It would be fantastic to raise and even beat our set target. A huge thank you to those that have donated so far and for anyone that may be able to support, it really is greatly appreciated.”
