It’s time to go for it and experience one of Americas most iconic journeys travelling 2,400 miles diagonally across America from Chicago to Los Angles on Saga’s new and exclusive 17 night escorted tour ‘Route 66-An American Icon’.

Taking in nine states in total, the tour begins in Chicago Illinois, the ‘Windy City’ where an included visit to the 360 Chicago Observation Tower, offers stunning panoramic views across Lake Michigan.

The route then follows the Pontiac Trail into St Louis Missouri, a city on the banks of the Mississippi River or the ‘Gateway to the West’ a nickname stemming from the traffic that historically made its way up river. Next it heads through the Missouri Hills into Joplin before passing into Kansas and onto Oklahoma, which boasts approximately 400 miles of route 66 running through it.

The tour continues west heading for the Texas Panhandle before stopping for an overnight stay in Amarillo and two in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Next is Flagstaff, Nevada where a full day is spent exploring the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon.

The penultimate stop on this exclusive Saga tour visits Las Vegas, with a day at leisure to venture along the infamous strip, before the epic journey of a lifetime ends in Los Angeles, taking in the Santa Monica Boulevard to the Santa Monica Pier and officially the end of Route 66.
