Saga comments on Commons Work and Pensions Committee interim report
Commenting on reports that the Commons Work and Pensions Committee interim report suggests that women could still retire before 66 in return for lower weekly pension payments, and the measures would be actuarially neutral, Paul Green, director of communications for retirement experts Saga said:
"The news that there may be a way to offer real and credible transitional arrangements to more than half a million women who have been so badly affected by these changes should be welcomed. Whilst the proposal wouldn't fully make up for the lack of information, for some the prospect of a lower pension is better than no pension and the Government should act on the advice of the parliamentary Committee. This no cost option for the Government should a no-brainer for the Chancellor"
