Saga Cruises adds four more celebrity faces to their entertainment line-up
30 August 2023: TV faces Jennie Bond, Charlie Dimmock, John Craven and Dr Sian Williams are set to become the latest celebrities to join Saga cruises in the coming months to give talks and answer guests’ questions on their specialist areas.
Journalist and broadcaster, Jennie Bond, was the BBC’s Royal correspondent during 14 of the most turbulent years the monarchy has endured, from fairy-tale marriages to adultery, and divorces to deaths. Since then, she has been a presenter on two of the BBC's most popular shows, Cash in the Attic and Rip Off Britain, among others.
Jennie will deliver a talk and Q&A session on Saga’s 14-night Winter Sun in the Canaries cruise departing on Spirit of Discovery from Portsmouth on 7 December 2023. Prices start from £2,826 per person. Book by calling 0808 258 0459.
Charlie Dimmock, one of the UK’s best known and best loved gardeners first came to the nation’s attention on BBC1’s incredibly successful Ground Force. She also hosts a regular slot on the US’s The Early Show filmed for CBS and is now filming the seventh year of her BBC series, Garden Rescue.
Charlie has previously been a guest speaker on Saga River cruises, but this is her first session on the ocean ships, where she will be speaking about water features and behind the scenes on set. John Craven OBE, best known for John Craven's Newsround, the presenter and editor has also presented the long-running Countryfile on BBC 1. John, who will be joining a Saga cruise for the first time, will talk to guests about his broadcasting career on the 14-night Canary Island Medley cruise departing Portsmouth on Spirit of Adventure on 4 December 2023. Dr Sian Williams, a registered Counselling Psychologist, with a focus on anxiety, stress, and trauma, who has worked as a broadcaster for 35 years. She anchored BBC Breakfast for 11 years and Channel 5 News for six, as well as presenting shows such as Saturday Live, Sunday Morning Live and Crimewatch. Dr Williams now presents the Radio 4 series, Life Changing, which hears from people who’ve encountered extraordinary obstacles in life and come out stronger, and she has written books, hosted radio programmes and run workshops on trauma, resilience, and the brain.
Sian also joins Saga for the first time and will be speaking about the triumphs, tragedies and the behind the screen stories of life on air and her surprising mid-life career change to practise in the NHS. Sian will be a guest on the Highlights of Spain and the Balearics cruise on Spirit of Adventure, departing Dover on 24 September 2023.
These celebrities join the line-up that have been working with the cruise line in recent times including Jools Holland, John Torode, Oz Clarke, Phil Vickery, and Alfie Boe.
