Saga welcomes news that carers will be exempt from benefit cap
This evening the DWP have tweeted that Carers in receipt of the Carers Allowance will be exempt from the benefit cap. Paul Green, director of communications for retirement specialists Saga commented:
"We're glad the Government have listened to Saga and the legion of family carers for whom these benefits are quite literally a lifeline. Lord Freud is right to announce the change. It shows that Government can listen and respond to the strength of feeling on this issue and are prepared to do the right thing by Carers."
