"Tidy the Town" and "Adopt an Artwork"! Saga sponsor Folkestone Triennial 2017

• Saga is the main sponsor of the 4th Triennial

• Staff roll up their sleeves and spruce up public areas

• 14 members of staff adopt Folkestone Artworks

As the town’s largest employer with strong local links, it was a natural step for Saga to sponsor the fourth edition of Folkestone Triennial. Saga and the Creative Foundation share the same overall aims of wanting to make Folkestone a go to destination, as well as a great place to live and work.

Saga has taken this sponsorship one step further by involving employees even before the event. 14 staff members have become custodians of the permanent Folkestone Artworks collection and have been tasked to keep an eye on the artworks and report any damage to the Creative Foundation, with the key element of engaging with the local community at the heart of the idea.

The ‘Tidy the Town’ event will also see staff getting more hands on, by doing everything from litter picking to painting public areas to help Folkestone look its absolute best in the run up to what is promising to be the most ambitious Triennial yet!

International artists have created 20 new works for the fourth edition of Folkestone Triennial, titled double edge. Presented by the Creative Foundation, Folkestone Triennial is one of the UK’s most ambitious public art exhibitions, and opens on 2 September 2017.

Alastair Upton, Chief Executive of the Creative Foundation says, "We are absolutely delighted that Saga have chosen to sponsor the Triennial. That Saga employees are volunteering to help tidy the town for the Triennial, as well as offering to look after our existing artworks, shows that they are as passionate as we are about our central aim; to transform Folkestone into a great place to live, work, study, play and visit through creative activity.
