André Rieu is a flamboyant fixture of the festive season – and there’s a chance to experience his thrilling New Year performance, with the Johann Strauss Orchestra, in Amsterdam during a magical Rhine cruise.
The sailing, A New Year's Concert with André Rieu, departs from Cologne on January 2, 2019, where a walking tour includes the magnificent Gothic Cathedral and the world famous Hohenzollern Bridge, where thousands of padlocks have been left by lovers.
Filia Rheni II sails on to Bonn, with its Romanesque Minster and botanic gardens, customers can also choose to join an optional tour to the Beethoven museum in the house where the composer was born.
During the cruise there are four on-board concerts from baritone Peter Grevatt and pianist Ken Roberts, as well as a music quiz and an illustrated talk about the Strauss family, so Saga guests are perfectly in tune for the spectacular night of music in the maestro’s native Holland, at the magnificent Ziggo Dome arena.
Before the André Rieu concert there is also an opportunity to tour Amsterdam and ports of call including Rotterdam, Dordrecht and Arnhem, with its commemorative war sites.
