Dine under the stars in three-country tour of Africa: DST South Africa EXT 29774

Iconic sights of Kenya, Zambia and South Africa packed into a 13-night adventure

  • Join five wildlife reserve tours
  • Sail on Zambezi river cruise
  • Stay in luxury African tents in game park
  • Dine under the stars
  • VIP door-to-door travel service included

A thrilling three-country tour of Africa with awe-inspiring attractions from the wildlife of Masai Mara, Victoria Falls, the Zambezi river and Table Mountain are included in a new 13-night holiday for adventure-seekers.

Four excursions in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, and another in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, feature in the Icons of Africa holiday to Kenya, Zambia and South Africa, which also takes in the Cape winelands and the vineyards of Franschhoek.

The adventure starts at Kenya’s four-star Ashnil Mara Camp or Sarova Mara Game Camp, where accommodation is in tents with fixed roofs and floors, a bathroom and power sockets, and there is a restaurant, a spa and an outdoor swimming pool.

Guests can enjoy dinner under the stars and traditional entertainment at an adjoining-Masai settlement, and travel the reserve looking for elephant, lion, cheetah, baboon, giraffe, gazelle, jackal, hyena, Cape buffalo, ostrich and several species of antelope.

The search for wildlife, including zebra, continues with a day’s tour of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, while Boulders Beach, Cape Town, has a colony of around 2,500 African penguins.

With a choice of four or five-star hotels close to Victoria Falls there are further opportunities to see the wildlife or spectacular scenery. A sunset cruise on the Zambezi is perfect for looking for hippo and other wildlife, while a walking tour reveals the full grandeur of the waterfall, nearly two kilometres wide and 91 metres deep, and named by Dr David Livingstone in 1855, in honour of Queen Victoria.

The full-day tour of the Cape Winelands includes a tasting and free time in the towns of Franschhoek and historic Stellenbosch. While three nights at the four-star Commodore Hotel, Cape Town, leave plenty of opportunity to explore the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and museums, spot for seals snoozing on the quay, take an open-top bus to Table Mountain or visit the Kirstenbosch botanical gardens.

There is also a visit to Simons Town, home of the South African Navy, and the statue of ‘Just Nuisance’, a Great Dane enlisted in the Royal Navy during the Second World War and buried with full military honours.
