Saga’s new Greek Island Adventure visits the lesser-known Sporades archipelago which remains true to Greek culture and traditions. Guests can combine exploration of important historical sites and woodland landscapes with relaxing beach days.

The 14-night, half-board holiday features a three-island tour of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skopelos with included mountain hikes, nature trails and boat trips.

During a five-night stay in Skiathos, at the beachfront Skiathos Princess Hotel(4Q+), there is a series of activities to join from walks around the wooded Kalamaki peninsula to unfrequented coves; visiting Skiathos Town by water taxi and viewing Evangelistria Monastery, where the first Greek flag was woven and blessed in 1807.

Relaxed and refreshed, guests travel by ferry to tranquil Alonissos for a five-night stay at the Marpunta Village Club (4Q). A full-day’s tour to the island’s natural marine park, an important habitat for the endangered monk seal, is just one of the highlights. Guests can also opt to go snorkelling or diving, join a beach safari or meet a local botanist on a nature walk to see local flora and fauna.

Guests spend the last four nights of the holiday at Prince Stafylos Hotel(3Q), on Skopelos, the largest island of the Sporades. The hotel has beautiful views across the Aegean Sea to Haladiki and is a perfect base for walks from the mountain village of Pirgos through pine and eucalyptus woods to quiet beaches. Birdwatchers can also observe more than 60 species including eagles, vultures and kestrels.

The pretty island, featured in the film Mamma Mia!, is also home to many monasteries and guests can join an optional tour to learn about their history and architecture.
