Health, fitness and the great outdoors

Two winter sun cruises packed with feel-good adventures from life-changing fitness programmes to floral delights

Saga Sapphire’s two winter sun cruises to the Canary Islands are crammed with active feel-good adventures. Choose from kick-starting a healthier lifestyle to exploring the great outdoors and fabulous tropical gardens.

The Volcanic Isles November 24, 2019

Kick-start a healthier way of living with a lifestyle coach during Saga Sapphire’s all-inclusive sailing to Morocco, Madeira, the Canary Islands and Portugal. Mr Motivator himself will also be joining this cruise…famed for his appearances on breakfast TV in the 90’s and his memorable persona wearing his trademark bright coloured unitards. More recently he has been providing mass workouts for many charities, schools and his unique way of exercising has meant that he is in great demand!
Further opportunities to exercise body and mind include hikes through ancient laurel forests and barren lava fields to beaches of black volcanic sands.

There’s a pedometer challenge, too, but it’s not all hard work – guests can treat themselves to private wine-tasting and lunch at a family winery in Madeira and explore Funchal’s colourful food and flower markets or opt for an overnight hotel stay in Marrakech, Morocco.

Canary Island Paradise February 7, 2020

A garden expert is on board Saga Sapphire’s 14-night sailing and garden-loving guests can immerse themselves in tropical floral delights during a series of garden and park visits, including Palheiro Gardens, laid out in the 18th century and now owned by the Madeira wine-producing Blandy family.
On Tenerife, visit the wonderful Orchid Garden with its fascinating history and links to Agatha Christie, Alexander Humbolt and the botanical artist Marianne North.

Saga Sapphire also calls in to Lanzarote to see conservationist and artist César Manrique’s Cactus Garden and former live-in studio which he created around five volcanic lava bubbles.

Further ports of calls include the Andalusian city of Cadiz and Portugal’s capital Lisbon.
