Explore the land of cigars and Che Guevara with a discount to celebrate 500 years of Havana

  • Save £100 per person – book by December 14

  • All-inclusive deal at resort

Intoxicating rhythms, colourful cars and a compelling history – Cuba offers a holiday adventure with a difference and now the cost of visiting this fascinating country has been cut by Saga for a choice of three holidays in 2019.

As the capital Havana celebrates the 500th anniversary of its foundation, bookings made between December 3 and December 14, 2018 benefit from a reduction of £100 per person on Saga’s Cuba LibreViva Cuba and Memories Jibacoa holidays.

Cuba Libre is an exploration of the enchanting island, home to coffee and cigars, including tours of Havana and the Spanish colonial cities of Cienfuegos and Trinidad.

Excursions take in the Che Guevara mausoleum, Las Terrazas Nature Reserve, the Viñales Valley, a boat trip across Cienfuegos Bay, and the Bay of Pigs and a museum dedicated to the 1961 attempted invasion by American-backed Cuban exiles. A relaxing four-night stay in the beach resort of Varadero completes a memorable holiday.

The full-board Viva Cuba break includes tours of Havana, Trinidad, Camaguey, Sancti Spiritus and Bayamo, as well as visits to Santa Clara and the Guevara mausoleum.

There are also options to spend a cabaret evening at the Tropicana nightclub, and to take a cruise of Santiago Harbour and to watch the Changing of the Guard at a cemetery for the victims of the war of independence.

Those favouring a completely relaxing escape can choose an all-inclusive week at the Memories Jibacoa resort on an unspoilt, golden beachfront at Arroyo Bermejo, on Cuba’s north coast. The stay includes up to four excursions and evening entertainment, while activities include snorkelling, kayaking, classes in Spanish, Cuban history and Latin dance, tennis, beach volleyball and yoga. The accommodation is arranged in hacienda-style buildings and all Saga rooms have a garden view.
