A trio of sunshine cruises to the Canary Islands on Saga Sapphire and Saga Pearl II feature themed sailings from crime fiction to fitness with a myriad of adventure tours.

TV detective Stephen Tompkinson is the guest star on a dramatic cruise celebrating the joys of crime fiction.

Guests can also join a mystery-themed book club with a writer as a guest speaker, screenings of crime movies and visits to the haunts of Agatha Christie and J.K. Rowling.

The sunshine cruise features four Canary Islands – Tenerife, El Hierro, La Palma and Lanzarote plus Madeira and Leixoes, in Portugal, for an excursion to Oporto, where J.K. Rowling was living when she began her first Harry Potter book.

14 nights from £2,588 per person departing Southampton on November 13, 2018.

Canary Island Delights on Saga Pearl II
Inspiration for a healthy body and spirit – and a sunshine escape from the January gloom – is the theme of this farewell to the Canaries cruise.

A Pilates class against a dramatic, volcanic backdrop and a visit to an aloe vera farm are among the activities during the voyage, which also features a host of health, food and fitness workshops.

Tours include a hike along the trails of Tenerife's Mount Teide volcano, trekking into the depths of the Bandama Crater on Gran Canaria and through a volcanic tunnel in Lanzarote. On Gran Canaria there’s a bicycle tour of Las Palmas, a buggy drive through the Brena Alta region, paddle-boarding, a camel safari or a dive in a yellow submarine.

Further ports of call include Lisbon, Portugal, and Fuerteventura, in the Canaries.
A final call to Ferrol, Spain, offers the opportunity to walk along part of the Way of St James, in the footsteps of the thousands of pilgrims who visit the holy city of Santiago de Compostela.

14 nights from £2,295 per person departing Portsmouth on January 4, 2019.

Treasures of the Canaries and Morocco on Saga Sapphire

In Lanzarote, guests can visit the garden of artist César Manrique, created in harmony with natural lava bubbles. Gran Canaria and the cities of Agadir, in Morocco, and Vigo, in Spain are also on the itinerary.
