Tiger safaris add to excitement of India adventure featuring the Taj Mahal and Amber Fort

  • 10-night tour from £1,599 pp
  • Flights and half board accommodation included
  • £10 deposit and pay balance by direct debit

India’s famed Golden Triangle provides experiences to treasure – including the chance to look for tigers – on a great-value 10-night tour from £1,599.

The contrasts between Old and New Delhi, the splendour of Jaipur and the romance of Agra are combined with half-board stays in four and five-star hotels and a rail journey from Ranthambore to Bharatpur.

The Golden Triangle and Tiger Trail adventure also features two safaris, both by open-topped bus, in Ranthambore National Park, home to tigers, a wealth of birds, crocodiles and stately sambar, the largest species of Asiatic deer.

An included tour of Delhi will encompass colourful street life and beautiful parks, as well as the Raj Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated, and the India Gate war memorial.

Guests will also see India’s largest mosque, the Mausoleum of Emperor Humayun and the Sikh temple Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, as well as a visit to the 12th-century Qutub Minar minaret, 71 metres high.

Jaipur is the base for an excursion to the classic, romantic, Rajasthani Amber Fort, contrasting stark early palaces with the more lavishly built later ones, such as the palace of mirrors.

Guests can also see the five-storey Palace of the Winds, where 953 sandstone windows allowed royal ladies to watch outside without being seen, and visit both the Maharaja's City Palace, some of which is still used by Jaipur's Royal family.

After the train journey to Bharatpur, the party will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Fatehpur Sikri, constructed in 1571 of red sandstone, while the holiday reaches its climax in Agra with an early-morning sight of the magnificent Taj Mahal, built over 22 years in the 1500s – by more than 20,000 workers – and the powerful, 16th-century Agra Fort, with its fairytale palaces and beautiful mosques.

Guests can extend the holiday with four nights in Goa, at the locally rated four-star Zuri White Sands resort.
