Innovation focus from Saga will see a revamp of the over-50s travel market with new, bespoke ‘Tailor-Made Travel by Saga’ service, the development of “experienced gap year” trips, multi-generational holidays, and a further roll-out of Saga’s premium jet tours.

Saturday, June 4, 2022: Saga Cruises is ensuring the Platinum Jubilee is well and truly celebrated on board its cruise ships with a host of celebrations over the bank holiday weekend.

Arnhem, 21 March 2022: Saga’s newest river ship, Spirit of the Danube heads off on her inaugural cruise seven-day Dutch and Belgian Waterways this evening, following her joint naming ceremony with sister ship, Spirit of the Rhine on Saturday (19 March).

Saga’s new river ships ‘Spirit of the Danube’ and its sister ‘Spirit of the Rhine’ are set to welcome Captain George Dudunica and Captain Marinus Pols as their respective Masters when they get underway in March.

Anyone who holidayed in the 1970s is likely to remember long car journeys (often with the odd mechanical break-down), the constant chorus of “are we there yet” and activities in the rain.

As the UK reaches ‘Freedom Day’ on July 19 – the day lockdown restrictions are finally lifted in Britain – Saga’s brand-new cruise ship, ‘Spirit of Adventure’ will be named with a traditional bottle smashing ceremony at Portsmouth International Port. It will be the first time in history that a new cruise ship has been named at the port.

Monday July 5, 2021: With travel beginning to return and more destinations being added to the green list, Saga is inviting customers to stay longer for less as it has further reduced the price of its 2021/22 European long-stay holidays by an additional £150 on four week stays and £75 on three week stays. This is on top of existing offers inviting customers to book four weeks for the price of three and three week for the price of two*.

Sunday June 27, 2021: At 6pm tonight, Saga Cruises’ ‘Spirit of Discovery’, which originally launched in July 2019, will return to the ocean from Tilbury Docks on its first round Britain tour since the UK was locked down in March 2020. It will call first at Portsmouth on June 28, Portland on June 29, the Isles of Scilly on June 30 and Falmouth on July 1.

Saga Cruises has launched its summer 2021 UK cruise programme with four all-inclusive itineraries to choose from: ‘Scottish Highlands and Islands’, ‘Great British Isles Adventure’ and ‘Northern Isles to the Fjords’ will all be hosted by Spirit of Discovery while, for the first time, guests can also book the ‘The Inaugural Cruise on Spirit of Adventure’, Saga Cruises’ brand-new boutique ship.
